Free self-defence classes for women and girls
Sevenoaks District Council is running free self-defence classes for women and girls at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre.
The five-week course starts on Monday 10 March, 6pm to 7pm for girls aged 13 to 17 and 7pm to 8pm for women over 18.
The classes are run by Kent Self Defence and focus on empowering individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to protect themselves and others.
Sevenoaks District Council’s Cabinet Member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball says: “Reducing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) is a top priority for us so we’re delighted to be holding another self-defence class to help develop greater confidence, self-esteem, and peace of mind.
“The workshops are designed to be accessible and engaging, with a focus on real-life scenarios and practical skills that you can use in everyday situations.
“All women and girls over 13 are welcome, regardless of experience or fitness levels but we expect places to fill up quickly, so don’t delay on booking your spot!”
