The large Petanque Pitch is situated next to the library, is FREE to use and was renovated in June 2025.
In order to keep this area ready for use dogs, children (unless they are playing petanque) and wheeled vehicles are not permitted on the pitch. Just bring your boules and enjoy!
Rules for Petanque pitch (French boules)
- At least 2 teams compete to get their boules as close as possible to a smaller target ball called the “jack”.
- Players stand at the edge of the pitch to throw their boules.
- Teams alternate throws, aiming to take the lead by having a boule closer to the jack than the opponents’ closest boule.
- The team whose boule is closest to the “jack” has won that round and has scored 1 point.
- The first team to reach 13 points wins.
