‘Forest Bathing ‘
I’ve just finished this nature inspired mural for West Kingsdown Parish Council & Residents. For all sports and public people. A hat nod to the areas natural beauty.
I got the opportunity to create this painting, themed around forest bathing, the act of peaceful mindfulness wondering through nature. Observing microworlds of fungi, slowing down your mind to observe, in an ever speeding up human reality. Spending time looking at nature’s wonders, dazzled by the unknown and unseen.
Each mushroom in this mural is a copy of real world fungi, can you name any of them? And yes, they look just like the real species depicted.
Mycelium works with nature, creating biodiversity throughout ecosystems. Support structures that create a stronger platform for a variety of lifeforms.
Mycorrhizal fungi working with trees and plants to sustain forests. Helping each other out…. A lesson humans could learn from. Support, as a soloution to humanity’s choices here on earth. Rather than fighting or destruction, to resolve issues of gastly proportions. Like we see in the worlds wars and politics today.
Biodiversity truly is the opposition to suppressed systems of control.
Inspire by @paulstamets , I have created a work to enlighten the public’s perception of fungi. To spark an interest in photography of nature, collecting fungi snaps like pokemon cards. Shedding light on our connection with nature.
One small fact….
Fungi, the first multicellular organism here on earth, 2.1billion years ago. Eventually ate rocks, that made dirt, that made plants, animals insects and more. That recycled back into the dirt. For the mycelium to then alchamize back into new life forms!
Fungi superpower- ‘arrangement of old life into new living systems’. Rejuvenation!
And there is so much more to talk about. So many more things mushrooms do. I hope this has sparked an interest to research for yourself. Go check out Paul Stamets social media for far more interesting fungi observations and facts.
